Lane Motor Museum

On Thursday we went to the Lane Motor Museum.  It's a fantastic museum, with a very reasonable admission price.

First stop, of course, was a 1962 Mini, similar to my first one.

Next a 1967 Mini Traveller, the forerunner of the current Clubman.

CL with a 1956 Heinkel Kabine.

1932 Martin Martinette

1958 BMW Isetta (300)

1936 Harris Aerodynamic Steam Car

1951 Crosley Super Sport

1935 Adler Trumpf Junior

1951 Hoffmann

1946 Henson Rocket (polished aluminum body)

1958 Fiat 600; Western Massachusetts residents may appreciate the dashboard sticker

1958 Opperman Unicar

1929 BMW Ihle 600

1952 Citroen Cogolin (2 Citroen 2CV front ends fastened together)

These are just a small percentage of the total collection.

Getting Ready for Memorial Day

We visited Cave Hill National Cemetery yesterday.  While we found graves in several parts of the cemetery, the main purpose of the visit was to see the national part, which has a large section of Civil War graves.  Among the soldiers there is Samuel Rule Sharrard, my great grand father and a Captain in the 21st Kentucky Infantry.

Genealogy Stuff

Gravestones from the Paris, KY Cemetery:

William A. Sharrard (my GG Grandfather) and his wife Elizabeth

and their daughter, Kate

Yours truly

Mr. Toad in the gate to the Paris cemetery:

In the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, KY

I have no idea who this is, but living with this name for 26 years must have been quite a feat.

George Sharrard (my 2nd cousin, twice removed) and his wife Mary

On Main St., Paris, we ran across the Sharrard House.

Kentucky, Part 1

We're in the Louisville/Lexington area of Kentucky.   The first shot is of the Bourbon County Courthouse, in Paris, KY.

The next batch are of the the Woodford Reserve distillery.

And a few horse we spotted as we drove from the distillery to Lexington along the old Frankfort Turnpike.
