Maggie

Here are a few shots of Maggie this morning. She fed her baby, did some modeling, and finally built herself a nest.

Snow in Cambridge, too

We're in Cambridge for a day or so. Here are first impressions, looking both ways down J&A's street. While the car in the foreground of the first shot isn't a MINI, we saw several MINIs in the same condition. Mr. Toad is even more grateful for his garage.

Even More Snow

Another 8 or 9 inches last night.

Chilly

This is what the local TV station thinks the lows were this morning,
but this is the lowest we saw on our back porch with the sensor next to the house (the 56.5 is the indoor temperature, by the way).

DC and NoVA

We drove down to Washington, DC and environs this weekend to visit to visit (in chronological order) our grandnephew Henry, almost 3 months old,

daughter Johanna (in front of her beautiful apartment building and trying to hide behind Mr. Toad),
and also my cousin David and his wife Christina, whom we hadn't seen in 18 years (no pictures).

We also visited a few wineries. Primary among them was Chrysalis Vineyards. Here's the main entrance, and below are a tasting area and us.

And Now Ice

The rain stopped around supper time. These are a few shots I took then from the front porch; I wasn't willing to walk any farther.

By 9:00 p.m. it was almost 32 degrees. Melting tomorrow, hopefully.

More Snow

Overnight we got another five inches or so of mostly snow with some sleet mixed in this a.m. It's now mid-afternoon, and it's 27 degrees and raining lightly. Everything outdoors is a sheet of ice. And my porch is buried.

MLK Day with Maggie

Sunday afternoon we drove out to Cambridge, just in time to see Maggie scoot down the ice and snow covered sidewalks.

We did Maggie daycare on Monday, since her regular daycare was closed for the holiday. It was a great day for all us (except J & A, who had to work).

Afternoon update

As of 2:00 p.m., the depth was up to at least 18". It's now a bit after three, and it's still snowing lightly.

The sidewalks and driveway are all cleared,
as if we could go anywhere or anyone else could get here.

We're watching our neighbor trying to clear the driveway next door and the snow is deeper than his snowblower is tall. According to the local TV station, this is the worst snowstorm since the blizzard of '78. Glad we don't have to go anywhere.

More Snow

I noticed that it started snowing harder, so I updated one of the Snow pictures and added another of a branch in the back yard.

Snow

These were taken just before 10:00 a.m., and it's supposed to snow for several more hours. The yardstick is in the middle of the driveway, where there appears to be no drifting. It's deeper next to the house.
This is the driveway next door. Mr. Toad is very happy that he has a garage to keep him dry.

Boar's Head Festival 2011

This weekend is the annual Boar's Head Festival at Trinity UMC. Last night was dress rehearsal, with shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. CL is a nun this year. As usual, I'm the photographer.
